Local Realtors Helping Two Schools with Supplies

Ocean Pointe, Ewa Beach, Hawaii – August 18, 2008 – Realtors do so much more than just help people buy and sell homes. When an opportunity transpires, realtors always step up to give back to their local communities. This Wednesday, August 20, 2008 from 10 am to 1 pm, Leeward regional real estate agents will be rallying up and gathering school supplies at the Ocean Pointe “Realtors for Crayons™” Joint Broker’s Open benefitting Ewa Beach and Keoneula Elementary schools.

Karen Wilson, Ewa Beach Elementary School’s Parent Community Network Coordinator said, “We are always in need of school supplies. We have children in special circumstances throughout the year that are unable to gather all the required school supplies. We can certainly use any donation.”

The need is not only restricted to the Ocean Pointe community. School supplies are always in constant demand everywhere.

“We, as realtors, are so entwined in the communities we serve,” said Patricia Nekota, Realtor-Associate, RE/MAX Honolulu. “Our business is all about kuleana. We feel it’s our responsibility to work hand-in-hand with the community. It’s our little effort to help our schools flourish. After all, our children are the heart of our future.”

Open homes contributing to Realtors for Crayons™ will clearly be marked at each entrance of each home. Visiting brokers viewing open, listed homes are encouraged to participate by making donations like backpacks, crayons, markers, colored pencils, scissors, composition books, paper towels, and tissues.

The Ocean Pointe Realtors for Crayons™ donations can be dropped off at the host house and collection point located at 91-1145 Kaimalie Street, Ewa Beach and will be opened through 2 pm. Ocean Pointe residents and the general public are encouraged to view homes and to participate.
